10-10-09 Bridge Studios has the distinct honor of receiving a very special microphone; hand crafted by one of the top builders in the world today -- Martin Kantola of Nordic Audio Labs. http://www.nordicaudiolabs.com/ The microphone, "Bruce Swedien No.1" was developed in conjunction with the man himself over years of collaboration between the two gentlemen. The mic is appointed in Martin's classic wood body styling, with a glowing Viking ship emblem that's absolutely beautiful. The sound is just as attractive as well. Owner, Paul Andrews says, "it has all the warm, up front characteristics of a classic U-47, but with a very slight distinctional difference of definition in the 5K range. This translates into an incredible sounding microphone that just sounds right! I'll want to use this mic all the time!" -Thank you Martin and Bruce for continuing the never-ending quest in audio excellence!

5-5-09 It has ARRIVED!! The New Rhodes 73 Mark 7A Piano! Bridge Studios is the first Recording Studio in the world to own one of the new Rhodes, according to Joe Brandstetter CEO of the Rhodes Corp. "We were so excited to unveil the piano in all it's red gloss glory when it arrived" says Paul Andrews, owner of the studio. After nearly three years of anticipation, while the Rhodes Corporation finalized design and manufacturing, we can truly say it was well worth the wait. After which, Paul was able to compare the new Mark 7A with their original 1974 Mark 1, and in a word..."WOW" what a difference! The Mark 7A has a beautiful forward presence and warmth that far surpasses the Mark 1. That's just the passive signal! As far as the electronics are concerned.... Rhodes not only provided all the tonal control one needs, but also spared no expense in sound quality. We will have no problems running the signal line-in to our favorite pre amps and recording straight out of the piano itself. It's that good! Coupling all this with the much improved action and feel of the keys, makes this an instant hit. We are honored to be a part of the new Rhodes legacy and know our clientele will love recording on a newly designed classic!

1-12-09 Yet another Great review on Laurel's delicious voice. Katey Laurel?s voice is like a ripe piece of delicious fruit. Listening to it can seem more an experience of flavor than sound.
Moreover, she is so comfortable with it that her tendency is simply to let it come out of her mouth, like an exhalation. She never belts. Doesn?t need to.
The Denver singer/songwriter has just released her first full-length studio album, ?Upstairs, Downstairs,? which was recorded in Longmont with the help of engineer and co-producer Paul Andrews.
She?s pushing the album?s first track, ?Twentysomething,? as the hit. The song is catchy enough. But it?s bland. I much prefer the touching ?No One Else,? with its echoes of Coldplay, and the soulful, eerie ?Waiting.? Quentin Young, Longmont Times Call http://www.timescall.com/blogs/young/blog-detail.asp?ID=387
